Red and Turquoise

  blog 4 blog 6
What I'm wearing: Forever 21 top (borrowed) and necklace, Zara colored skinnies, Banana Republic Outlet sandals

Today I wanted to share more outfit pictures from vacation. One of my favorite things about spring and summer dressing is being able to mix bright colors. Ever since I got these pants, red + turquoise has been a go-to combination of mine (seen here and here). I like it because it's a little unexpected, but the two colors still complement each other really well. What is your favorite bright colored combination?

Everybody, Everywear: Colored Pants (and Day 16)

day 16

What I'm wearing: J.Crew outlet tee, Zara jeans, Target sandals, Hand-me-down scarf, UO earrings

I was way excited when I saw today would be colored pants day over at Everybody, Everywear. Not only do I have red jeans, but they're also part of my 30 for 30! It's funny because when I first bought these pants, I actually almost returned them because I was afraid to wear them. But after a wear or two, I was hooked and now wear them all the time! I think the 30 for 30 helped a lot in changing my opinion of them; when you only have a limited number of items to choose from, you have to learn to love/work with what you've got. Here are all of the ways I've worn them since I bought them in July:

And there are many more ways to come! Also in a completely unrelated note, the next time you see me (AKA tomorrow's post), I'll be a BRUNETTE! I decided it was time for a change, and although it's going to take some getting used to, I think I like it. Can't wait to hear what you think!

Day 14: Opposites Attract

day 14

bff-3
What I'm wearing: Old Navy cardigan, Gap tee, Zara colored denim, Target sandals, NY & Co. outlet necklace

This outfit is about the exact opposite of the weather we've been having: cold, rainy, and gray. But the dreary weather hasn't stopped me from wearing my brights. I threw this outfit together last night for an impromptu dinner with my mom and brother, and I must say, it's getting harder to use my 30 for 30 items now that I'm home in Ohio. Most of my picks were meant for wearing to my internship and aren't as practical for everyday casual wear. I also wasn't sure if the folks of Ohio were going to be able to handle my red pants, but I didn't get a single weird stare at dinner. Ohio, I may have underestimated you.

Day 7: Conquering Colored Denim

day 7

bff-1
What I'm wearing: H&M blouse, J.Crew sweater, Zara red jeans, Banana Republic outlet sandals, Forever 21 pearl earrings

I used to be so afraid of colored denim. I even considered returning these pants after I bought them, but ultimately decided it was time for me to try something new. I always thought that bright denim was meant for girls with stick-thin figures, and as someone with more of a pear shape, I would never be able to pull it off. But during my time here in NYC, I saw more and more girls wearing colored jeans and was dying to try the trend for myself. So I threw all preconceived notions aside, and here I am, wearing my red denim proudly! For this look, I kept the top half neutral, but I can't wait to pair these pants with more brights. So lesson of the day: Don't just assume something won't work for your body type. It doesn't hurt to try things on in a dressing room; if it looks silly, you're the only one who will be seeing it. If you really want to try out something new, go for it!

Color Cravings

What I'm wearing: Zara top, J.Crew outlet cropped pants, J.Crew flats, NY & Co. outlet necklace, Coach bag

Outfit pictures two days in a row! This hasn't happened in what feels like FOREVER! This top was one of the items in my first ever Zara purchase. I went shopping on Monday while everyone else in the city was either out of town or celebrating the fourth, which made for ideal shopping conditions. Quiet and relaxed, without all the crowds...my favorite kind of shopping! I bought this top, a pair of red jeans, and a colorblocked sweater for Fall. I've been craving color this season, and Zara has some wonderful bright colored pieces right now. Although I must admit, I'm not totally sold on the jeans. I've been conditioned to think that girls with butts and thighs should stick to dark-wash blue denim...what are your thoughts on the matter? Do you own colored jeans?
