Playing Dress Up [Halloween Style]

Happy Halloween everyone! I used to kind of hate this freshman year of college I purposely went home for Halloween weekend just so I didn't have to deal with figuring out a costume and trying to compete with all the girls out there who wear lingerie or something really trashy and call it a costume. But as I've gotten older, I've come to appreciate this holiday as an excuse to get creative and play dress-up. This year I had two costumes again (see last year's here)...on Thursday I was Cruella Deville and Friday I was the Statue of Liberty!

What I'm wearing: Forever 21 dress ($12!), Handmade vest, Target tights, Steve Madden wedges, Gloves from previous costume (not pictured)

What I'm wearing: Sheet from Target (cut by me), Handmade headband and torch

Sorry for the crappy mirror pic; I got ready at my friend's sorority house and didn't have time for proper outfit pictures. If you're ever looking for an easy costume, the statue of liberty is it! All I had to do was buy a sheet from Target and wrap it around me toga-style and then make the accessories from things I already had. For the torch, I took a plastic cup, attached it to an empty paper towel roll, and covered it with tin foil. Scrunch some orange and yellow tissue paper into the top and you have a torch! For the headband, I took an old headband I already had, taped cardboard triangles to it, and wrapped the whole thing in tin foil. Done! Easiest costume everrr!
What were you for Halloween this year?

What I'm wearing: Forever 21 dress and leather jacket, Banana Republic outlet belt, Hue tights via Macy's, Gap city flats, Shebead earrings

I know I've been pretty MIA lately, but frankly, I've been too busy enjoying my life to blog about it. It's my last year of school and possibly my last year in Columbus with all of my friends, so I've been trying to enjoy every minute of it. This means that homework and blogging have fallen to the wayside a bit, but I'm determined to get back into blogging. Homework, not so much. I wore this outfit Friday for a friend's birthday dinner. It was a great excuse to wear my new LBD that I picked up a few weeks ago at Forever 21. Also it's been pretty chilly here this past week, so tights were a must. I love using colored tights to add a little bit of a pop to an outfit. I can't wait to see all of the different ways I can style this's great how versatile a black dress can be!

From top, left to right:
1. I finally got an iPhone! (if you couldn't tell from my new-found obsession with instagram). So a trip to the Kate Spade outlet for a new phone cover was a necessity.
2. Part of my Halloween costume. See last year's here.
3. Personalized M&Ms at my cousin's baby shower.
4. Adorable onesies on display at the shower.
5. Me and the gorgeous mom-to-be. I cannot wait for the little man's arrival!
6. A quick trip to JoAnn's to pick up fabric for the last part of my costume. I can't wait to reveal it to all of you...I'm pretty excited about it!

How was your weekend?

Cat Eyes on Campus

What I'm wearing: Old Navy cardigan and boots, J.Crew painter tee, Gap Always Skinny jeans, Forever 21 scarf and bag, NY & Co. outlet bangle, Urban Outfitters sunglasses

The sun has decided to grace us with its presence and warmth again these past few days, so it only seemed appropriate to put on a bright color and my new cat eye sunnies. My favorite pair of Ray-Ban wayfarer knockoffs were lost in a lake at the end of the summer and were quickly replaced by this pair. They're cute and just a tad bit sassy, which is why I love them! On a separate note, can you tell from these photos how gorgeous our campus is this time of year?! I love it! Natalie and I have been roaming all over campus lately, trying to find cool locations for pictures. I know soon enough everything will be covered in snow and slush, so I'm trying to enjoy it all while it's still nice out!
