Day 28- J.Crew Copycat

day 28

bff-9
What I'm wearing: Gap blazer, Forever 21 sweatshirt, Nine West boots, Forever 21 necklaces

Although I'm not wearing anything from there, this look is straight out of a J.Crew catalog. I cut a similar image out of one of their catalogs about a year or two ago of a girl wearing a sweatshirt, navy blazer, and a tangle of gold necklaces. I had been wanting to recreate it for a long time, but I didn't have a thin sweatshirt that would look right with a blazer. I picked up this one at Forever 21 right before the 30 for 30 challenge began. Unfortunately, the original catalog cutout is on my bulletin board in Columbus (shown here), so I can't share it with you, but I think I did a pretty good job of copycatting. I would have liked to have worn my tan boots instead of the cognac ones, but I'll have to try that after the challenge is over. I wore this outfit for dinner and game night with my aunts and girl cousins. Since I go to school out of town and one of my cousins just moved to Florida, I don't get to see them very often, which made the night even more special and fun.

The Little Victories

Today has been filled with highs and lows, but I've decided to focus on the little victories to keep me going. Here is what has kept the pep in my step today:

Admiring my gorgeous flower pin that arrived from my aunt and cousins. They are some of my most dedicated blog readers, and I love them for it! Plus, they know me so well...absolutely love this pin!

All in all, it looks like today was pretty darn good. I've fallen a little behind on the 30 for 30, but no worries, there will be an outfit post tomorrow!

Polished Cowgirl

Since I started taking self-timer outfit pictures, I've noticed how many great places there are around campus to do my little photo shoots. Who knew there were so many brick walls and weird cement sculptures around here, just waiting for someone to pose in front of them? I'm happy to say I'm starting to get the hang of the whole self-timer deal, and my camera is once again functioning with a full battery.

What I'm wearing: Gap blazer, Old Navy button down, Gap Always Skinny jeans, Old Navy cowboy boots, Urban Outfitters earrings

I originally was a little apprehensive about wearing this shirt and these boots together; I was afraid it would look a little too "cowgirl". But the blazer added just the right amount of polish to pull it off. I clearly need to invest in some more skinny jeans because jeans and boots has become my new daily uniform. So practical for class and all of the walking I do on campus. I was excited to finally debut these new boots. I was inspired to get some short cowboy boots after seeing my little jr. high cousin (hey Taylor!) wearing some while she was in town at the end of summer. They looked adorable on her, so I had just had to find a pair for myself. Can you believe these are from Old Navy? Cute, comfortable, and affordable!

Day 25- Wedding Weekend

I apologize for being an MIA blogger lately. Between my broken laptop and celebrating my cousin's wedding yesterday, I've been pretty absent. But I have pictures, as promised! Yesterday my cousin Anna got married! She didn't have an actual bridal party, so all of my girl cousins and aunts helped her get ready yesterday. She looked gorgeous, and the wedding turned out beautiful.

day 25
What I'm wearinng: Love 21 dress, Merona sandals via Target, Topshop necklace, Forever 21 pearl earrings

As you can tell from the pictures, the wedding was outdoors. I had a different dress picked out to wear (free from my internship), but a coldfront came in with some rain so I decided to wear this dress instead. Normally, I would wear heels to a wedding, but sandals worked out much better since it was outside and a little muddy. Plus, I didn't include any heels in my 30 items, and I was determined to stick with the challenge even for this special day. Yesterday was an all-day affair, and boy, was I tired today. I've spent most of the day lounging around, napping, and scrapbooking, trying to recharge for my last week in Cincinnati before I go back to school. This week will also be my last week of the 30 for 30 challenge. Yay, I'm almost there! I'm hoping to keep posting regularly, despite not having a laptop. Fingers crossed it can be fixed this week!
